Categories

Three categories. We bid all three.

Roadways and redevelopment each get their own page, because the work and the buyer are different. Structures covers the built scope that sits either side of them.

01 / Roadways

Roadway tenders

Every NHAI project and every NHAI tender we qualify for, plus state and municipal road work.

  • NHAI projects and NHAI tenders
  • National highway packages under MoRTH

  • Rural roads under PMGSY
  • Cross drainage, structures and road furniture

Land that already has people living on it, taken from consent through to conveyance.

  • Housing society redevelopment
  • Colony and estate redevelopment
  • Brownfield and industrial land
  • Rehab block work for a developer
  • Transit accommodation and phased handover
Redevelopment
03 / Structures

What we bid

Four ways in, and we are honest about which suits us.

We turn down more packages than we bid. A tender we cannot staff or cannot fund is a tender that ends in an extension request, and clients remember those longer than they remember a low quote.

  1. A
    Item rate and percentage rate

Bill of quantities work. We price against the drawing and the site rather than against last year's schedule of rates.

  2. B
    Engineering, procurement and construction

Design, procurement and construction under one contract, with the design consultant sitting on our side of the table from the first sketch.

  3. C
    Hybrid annuity

Where the authority funds part of the work and the balance rides on annuity payments. We bid these only where the maintenance window is one we can genuinely staff for its full length.

  4. D
    Subcontract and joint venture

Packages taken from a lead contractor, and joint ventures where our plant or our registration covers a gap in someone else's bid.

The pack

Everything an evaluator asks for, in one dated file.

Most disqualifications are administrative. An expired certificate, a missing affidavit, a solvency letter dated too far back. On an NHAI package a single similar completed work has to be worth at least 35 per cent of the estimated project cost before it counts at all, and the turnover and net worth thresholds move with the package rather than sitting at a fixed number. So the file is kept current and re-dated every quarter rather than assembled per bid.

The table

We are open to separate bids from people who want a part of our tender.

Almost every package we win has work in it that somebody else does better than us. Rather than hunt for that contractor after award, we would rather already know who you are. Pull up a chair and the desk will send you what is open.

Contractors, suppliers, plant owners and specialist trades all use the same door. You do not need a registration class to talk to us, and you do not need to have worked with us before. If the trade is one we buy, we will send you the package list and the closing dates.

Name, phone number and email address. That is the whole form.

  1. A
    Trade contractors

Bituminous work, structures, piling, finishing, electrical and plumbing packages on a building, and anything with its own crew.

  2. B
    Plant and equipment owners

Pavers, rollers, cranes, transit mixers and tippers, on a package or on a monthly hire against a running job.

  3. C
    Material suppliers

Aggregate, bitumen, steel, cement and ready-mix, quoted on landed cost against a stated lead distance.

  4. D
    Joint venture partners

Where your registration, your turnover or your plant closes a gap in a bid, and ours closes one in yours.

How we price

Four rules the bid desk does not break.

A low quote is the cheapest mistake a contractor can make, and we have made every one of these at some point. They are why the desk now runs the way it does.

  1. 01
We never take quantities on trust

The bill of quantities and the drawing disagree more often than anyone admits. We re-measure the big items before pricing, and we raise the difference in the pre-bid meeting.

  2. 02
We never carry a rate over

Bitumen, steel and diesel do not sit still. Rate analysis gets rebuilt on current landed cost and current lead distance, every single bid.

  3. 03
    We never assume mobilisation

Plant that is already on another package is not available, whatever the schedule says. Availability is checked against the running jobs before a number goes in.

  4. 04
We never skip the pre-bid meeting

It is the one moment a clause can still change. Somebody from our side attends, with the queries written down beforehand.

01We read before we priceSomebody walks the site and re-measures the big items against the drawing before a number goes anywhere near the bid.
02We turn work downA package we cannot staff or cannot fund ends in an extension request, and that is remembered far longer than a low quote.
03Nothing waits on paperworkMost disqualifications are administrative. The file is re-dated every quarter so a bid never stalls on an expired certificate.
04The panel is already builtSub-tender partners are on the list before award, so specialist packages are priced by people we have already worked with.
